Boko Haram has issued a new threat in a statement saying all government establishments in northern parts of Nigeria and Abuja and warning that occupants should evacuate in readiness for the deadly attacks

The extremist Boko Haram sect says it is set to resume its deadly attacks with sights now aimed at bombing government-owned properties, offices and residential quarters, in the 19 northern states and Abuja.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Communications Dr. Bitange Ndemo, has revealed that Kenya has concluded plans to roll the fourth-generation mobile data services network (4G) out by 2013, estimated at a cost of $500 million.

Speaking to Reuters, Bitange Ndemo, PS Ministry of information and communication, said that the deal was set, but they were awaiting financing.

“We have finished with the study. We have sent it to the Ministry of Finance. We are just waiting for the approval and then we hit the road,” he said.

Ndemo added that the project has different phases:  “Phase one, we will go to the counties and leverage off the existing base stations. By the time we have extended coverage nationally, the cost could be up to $500 million.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has in a statement cancelled the controversial voter registration exercise in Edo State.

INEC’s action came in the wake of widespread criticism by stakeholders and civil society groups who described the exercise as a barely disguised fraud aimed at enabling the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to rig the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
